Estel L. (Johnny) Forsyth was born August 24, 1920 in McNairy County, Tennessee the son of the late William Goodrum and Minnie Theo Garvin Forsyth.He was united in marriage to Ruth Phillips on January 1, 1941.Mr. Forsyth was a retired farmer, and was a United States Army veteran of World War II, having served in the Pacific Theatre. He was a member of the Fourth Street church of Christ in Selmer, Tennessee.Mr. Forsyth departed this life on June 24, 2008 in Jackson, Tennessee at the age of 87 Years, 10 Months. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Ruth (Phillips) Forsyth of Selmer, TN; six daughters: Gail (Forsyth) Lafferty and husband Larry of Nashville, TN, Judy Turner and husband Jim of Selmer, TN, Carolyn Bowers and husband Ted of Selmer, TN, Sandra (Sandy) Singleton and husband John of Jackson, TN, Connie Hurst and husband Albert of Little Rock, AR, Dorothy Heath and husband Tommy of Selmer, TN; 13 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; a brother, Wilson Hugh Forsyth of Adamsville, TN; and a host of extended family and friends.In addition to his parents, Mr. Forsyth was also preceded in death by a grandchild, Vivian Fortune.
