Essie Mae Smith

Essie Mae Smith was born January 10, 1930 in McNairy County, TN, the daughter of the late Arshall Moore and Mary Williams Jarnagan. She departed this life on May 14, 2023 in Adamsville, Tennessee at the age of 93 Years, 4 Months, 4 Days.

She was united in marriage to Ernest Smith in 1959. Mr. Smith preceded her in death on May 22, 2005. She was Baptist in belief. She spend many years as a caregiver and worked at ITT in Selmer for 10 years before retiring. She enjoyed nothing more than spending time with friends and family exchanging stories. 

Essie departed this life on May 14, 2023 in Adamsville, Tennessee at the age of 93 Years, 4 Months, 4 Days.

She is survived by her children: Debbie Cox, Linda Jarrett, Kathy Hadley, James Ernest Smith, Terri Hill; a sister, Sue Gene; a brother, Robert Moore; grandchildren: Lisa Edmonds, Ricky Lynn Crowe, Kim Butler, Patricia Thompson, Nickols Barclay, Vickie Faye Smith, Dusty Jarrett, Rusty Jarrett, Jesse Hadley, Johnny Smith, Cody Smith, Christopher Smith, Hunter Smith, Trevor Smith; numerous great and great great grandchildren; three great great great grandchildren with one on the way; and a host of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by a daughter, Shirley Mathis; a son, James Norman Hicks; a sister, Peggy Burch; two brothers, Leo Moore, Cleo Moore; two grandchildren, Jimmy Edward Crowe and Jeremy Butler.
