He was born and reared in Chester County, in the Cabo and Cash School Communities the son of the late Charlie Earnest and Lillie Ann Fields Edgar. He attended Chester County Schools. As a young man he logged and worked at the sawmill at Enville and entered the Navy in 1943 and served a short time. He worked at Milan Arsenal 1950 – 1957, Quality Mfg. five years and then as a driver for the Chester County Highway Dept. where he retired in 2002. He was married to Evelyn Kennon in 1973 and they made their home in the Sanford Hill Community. He was a member of the Sanford Hill Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Ruth Kennon Edgar of Henderson; a son, Jerry Edgar (Jean) of Memphis; a daughter, Shirley Hooper (Ray) of Jacks Creek; three step sons, Bobby Joe Hall (Betty) of Memphis, Gregory Hall (Amanda) of Moscow and Henry Alexander of Munford; two brothers, Dennis Edgar of Jacks Creek and Charles Edgar of Lexington; five grandchildren and six step grandchildren; five great grandchildren and five step great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a step daughter, Brenda Brown 1979 and a granddaughter, Teresa Hooper 1978 and also two brothers, J.R. Edgar and Billie Edgar and a sister Evelyn Finley.
