Ernest Ray Barton

Ernest Ray Barton, born January 14, 1944, of McNairy and Hardin counties, passed away in Savannah, TN on November 15, 2023. He was retired from a career building railroads and enjoyed gardening, cooking, canning, fishing, keeping chickens, going to meetings with the Primitive Baptist church, helping neighbors, and spending time with his extensive family. He is survived by his children, Kenneth Barton (Linda), Chad Barton (Sandee), and Kim (Rowland) Kates, whom he had with his former wife, Sue (Plunk) Beck (James), who is also deceased. He is survived by eight grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and his siblings, Faye (Barton) Waldon, Frank Barton, Dorothy (Barton) Hedgepath, and Billie Barton Aker. He is preceded in death by his brothers Bobby Barton Sr. and Wayne Barton and his parents Kinzy and Edna (Bell) Barton. He is survived by a multitude of beloved nieces and nephews, cousins, friends, neighbors, and church brethren.
