EMRY RICH
was born in Wayne County, Tennessee on August 7, 1925 the son of the late William Walker and Maude Lois Reed Rich.
On July 3, 1943 he was united in marriage to the former Mary Katherine Stanfield, who survives.
Mr. Rich retired after 36 years with Brown Shoe Company. He was a United States Army Veteran. Mr. Rich was a member of Sharon Baptist Church where he was a retired Deacon. He loved his family and loved to play with his grandchildren. Mr. Rich loved to visit children who lived away from Savannah, he enjoyed watching all types of birds, especially Hummingbirds. Mr. Rich enjoyed eating honey for breakfast and he enjoyed looking at old cars. He was always helping others, he would help the widow women by picking up their lawn mowers and working on them.
Mr. Rich departed this life on October 7, 2008 at the Jackson-Madison County General Hospital in Jackson, Tennessee at the age of 83 years and 2 months.
Other than his wife, Mary Katherine of Savannah, Tennessee, he is survived by 2 sons, David Rich of Grayslake, Illinois and Lonnie Rich of Navarre, Florida.
2 daughters, Carol Harris of Adamsville, Tennessee and Jana Rich of Murfreesboro, Tennessee
4 granchildren, Matthew Rich, Travis Ellison, Wesley Harris and Andrew Rich
7 great-grandchildren, John Forest Ellison, Cody Harris, Azelonde Ellison, Emma Rich, Micah Rich, Kayla Rich and Lily Rich
one sister, Jessie Cromwell of Savannah, Tennessee
Mr. Rich was also preceded in death by one sister, Reba Horton and 4 brothers, John Shutt, Billy Rich, Harvey Rich and Grayford Morrow.
