Emma Lee Patterson Austin was born December 30, 1912 in Hardin County, Tennessee the daughter of the late Arch and Rosie Smith Patterson.
On May 23, 1931 she was united in marriage to Eldridge (Shorty) Allen Austin, Sr, who preceded his wife in death on August 16, 1998.
Mrs. Austin was a homemaker and lived all of her life in Hardin County. She was a member of Hollands Creek United Methodist Church, where she was a Sunday School teacher. She was a life member of the Walnut Grove PTO and a member of the Porters-Hollands Creek Home Demonstration Club.
She departed this life on September 1, 2005 at Savannah Health Care in Savannah, Tennessee at the age of 92 years, 8 months and 2 days.
Mrs. Austin is survived by
One daughter, Patsy Holcombe of Savannah, Tennessee;
3 sons: Ancil Austin of Bartlett, Tennessee,
Grady Austin of Flagstaff, Arizona
Eldridge Austin, Jr. of Savannah, Tennessee;
11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren;
3 sisters: Marie Baker of Truman, Arkansas,
Wilma Jo Reeves of Jonesboro, Arkansas,
Faye Jenkins of Harrisburg, Arkansas;
and one brother, Ottie Qualls of Truman, Arkansas.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Frank Austin and 2 brothers: J.C. and W.E. Qualls.
