Services for Emily I. Montgomery, 87, of Cypress Inn, TN will be Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Shackelford Funeral Chapel, Collinwood, TN with Everett Rich, Gerald Montgomery, and Emerald Bailey officiating. Burial following in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery near Cypress Inn, TN with Shackelford Funeral Directors in charge of arrangments.
Visitation will be Monday evening 6:00-9:00 PM and Tuesday morning from 9:00 am until service time at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, Dennis, Mark, Randy, and Bud Bailey, Matt and Darrel Montgomery.
A native of Wayne County she was born February 2, 1924 a daughter of the late John Newton and Emma Montgomery Holt Pigg. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Montgomery was preceded in death by her husband, Granville Montgomery, son, Freddie Carl Montgomery; brother, Hershel Pigg; sisters, Lillie Moore and Linnie Balentine; half-brother, Joe Holt; half-sisters Virgie Balentine and Thuney Hanback. Mrs. Montgomery died Friday, December 23, 2011 at Eliza Coffee Memorial Hospital in Florence. She was a machine operator, cook at Head Start, and homemaker.
Mrs. Montgomery was a member of Mt. Pleasant Methodist Church but presently attended Bethel Grove Church.
She is survived by daughter, Shirley Bailey and husband Billy Joe of Iron City; TN; a son, Gerald Montgomery and wife Judy of Florence, AL; 7 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren;
a sister, Mary Linville of Waynesboro, TN.
