Elsie Mae Wilburn Hobbs, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, passed away on September 27, 2024. Born on June 24, 1939, in Memphis, Tennessee, Elsie was a vibrant spirit who enriched the lives of all who knew her.

Elsie had worked as a dedicated bank teller at Peoples Bank, where she served her community with integrity and grace. Her commitment to service extended beyond her career; she was a proud supporter of her husband, James Warden Hobbs, during his 21 years of service in the Air Force, showcasing an unwavering strength and loyalty that defined their life together.

Throughout her life, Elsie enjoyed an array of passions that brought her joy. A devoted member of the Waynesboro Museum and the Red Hats Club, she cultivated friendships and experiences that left lasting impressions on those around her. She also loved golfing and traveling in her free time. Her love for life was evident in every smile, every round of golf, and every journey she undertook.

The warmth of her heart and her determination to remain active in her community were reflected in her work at the election office and her membership at the local Country Club. Elsie's involvement in these groups not only brought her happiness but also created countless new friends and acquaintances in her life.

Elsie is survived by her beloved son, James Michael Hobbs, and a proud lineage of grandchildren: Jimmy Wayne Hobbs, Krystal Hobbs Bradford, and Kelsie Renee Hite. Her legacy continues to flourish through her great-grandchildren: Travis Lane Hobbs, Tanner James Hobbs, Zoey Kae Hobbs, Collin Lee Bradford, Bailee Grace, Breylon Deshaun Griffin, Brooklynn Renee Denise Griffin, Brenley Lashay Miller, Bre' Asia Marie Miller and Allie Mae Bradford. Each of them carries a piece of her spirit and the lessons she imparted.

She is lovingly remembered by those who may no longer be with her, including her dear daughter, Jeanne Renee Hobbs Hite; her mother, Ada Marie Casteel; her father, William Wilburn; and her devoted husband, James Warden Hobbs. Their memories live on in the hearts of Elsie’s family and friends, a testament to the love they shared.

Visitation services will be held on October 1, 2024, from 11:00 AM til service time at 12:00 PM at Shackelford Funeral Directors in Waynesboro, TN. Internment will follow at Havanna Cemetery in Hardin County, Tennessee
