Elsie "Sissy" James, 84, passed from this life Wednesday, January 11, 2023, at AHC McNairy in Selmer.

She was born September 29, 1938 to Wiley and Ola Mae Mills Wiggins near Bolivar, TN. She lived most of her life in the Bolivar area, with the exception of a short time in Memphis, following her marriage to Clyde Gentry who passed April 3, 1996. They were gifted with two sons, Randall and Jason Gentry. She was married to Marion James "M. J." James, until his passing in 2020. Mrs. James was a devoted homemaker, known for her desire to keep her home "spotless". She also enjoyed reading magazines and the Bible. She was a member of the Forrest Hill Pentecostal Church.

Mrs. James is survived by son Jason Gentry and wife Elizabeth of Bolivar; four sisters, Ora Lee Brock and husband Leon of Hickory Valley, Shirley Ervin of Bolivar, Margie Baker of Hornsby, and Frances Crouse and husband John Thomas of Hornsby; three brothers, Billy Wiggins of Bethel Springs, Bobby Wiggins and wife Lisa of Selmer, and Coy Wiggins and wife Betty of Middleton; five grandchildren, Christopher Grantham and wife Michelle, Jordan Gentry, Leah Gentry, Jody Gentry and wife Kristy and Ricky Gentry and wife Amanda; six great-grandchildren plus one due in July and five great great-grandchildren with one due in February. In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by her son Randall Gentry and a brother, Benny Wiggins.
