Mrs. Garner was born in Overton County, TN at Livingston, the daughter of Vesta Mae Lewis Brown and the late James Palo Brown. She attended Jackson High and later took correspondence courses through Rockwell to get her certificate in accounting. She married Edward Parker Garner in 1948 and they made their home in Jackson. She worked for Rockwell International, first on the assembly line, and then as an accountant, and was working as the PBX operator when she retired in 1990. They had made their home in Henderson since 1973, in the Rabbit Ranch Road Community. Mr. Garner died in 1997.
She was a member of the Eastern Star in Henderson. She and Mr. Garner participated in the CCC Reunions and she was a member of the Pinson Baptist Church.
She is survived by her son Edward P. Garner, Jr. of Pinson; her mother, Vesta Mae Lewis Brown of Jackson; two brothers James P. Brown, Jr. of Finger and Robert L. Brown of Hernando, MS; four sisters, Betty Stewart of Jackson, Mary Ruth Garrett of Jackson, Carrie Alice Smalley of Hickory Valley and Nancy E. Taylor of Mifflin.
