Elder Weaver was born and reared in the Hickory Corner Community of Chester County, the son of the late Isaac Odell and Mildred Alice Hurst Weaver. He attended Chester County schools and in 1948 was married to Emergene Smith and they made their home in and around Chester County most of their married life. He entered the U. S. Army in 1952 during the Korean War period.
He was a member of the Little Hatchie Primitive Baptist Church were he was ordained as a deacon in 1956, and ordained as an Elder in 1959.
Besides the ministry, he was involved in the construction business for many years, having built houses and many churches in the area. He also drove a bus for the Chester County School System for several years.
He had worked as an EMT, and owned and operated M&W Ambulance Service in Chester County for six years.
He had served as an Elder for Primitive Baptist churches for over 48 years. He had served as pastor of Little Hatchie, Clarks Creek, and Johnson’s Cross Roads (all near Henderson) and Better Hope at Leapwood, Old Gibson near Fruitland, Rushing’s Creek near Decaturville, Turman’s Creek near Scottshill and New Hope in Amory, MS.
Elder Weaver was always willing to give of his time whenever called upon.
He was an avid beekeeper, collecting and providing honey for friends and relatives in the area. He enjoyed a little golf in his later years; however, he was always very conscious of how he spent his time.
He is survived by his wife Emergene Smith Weaver, and three daughters: Shelia M. White and husband Randy of Chattanooga; Anita Beshires and husband Brent of Henderson; and Paula Robison of Pinson. He has seven grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
He has three surviving brothers: Rev. Paul Weaver of Jackson; Larry Weaver of Kyle, TX; and Dennis Weaver of Jackson; and two sisters: Ilaine Davidson of Bethel Springs and Regina Latham of Jackson. He was preceded in death by two brothers: Chester Weaver and Rev. Wayne Weaver.
