Elmer Rinks Jr of Stantonville, Tennessee, was born on Wednesday, January 11, 1928, the son of the late Elmer and Mattie Hunt Rinks. He was united in marriage on December 24, 1954, to Wilma Ruth King.Mr. Rinks served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War attaining the rank of Sergeant. He was retired from the Memphis Fire Department after 25 years of service and a former Fire Chief for the town of Stantonville.He departed this life on Sunday, February 25, 2007, at St. Francis Hospital in Memphis, at the age of 79 years, 1 month, 14 days.Survivors are his wife Wilma Ruth Rinks of Stantonville; 2 daughters, Jill Diane Powell of Bartlett, Tennessee, and Judy C. Noe and husband, Harold of Stantonville; 2 sons, Elmer Rinks III and wife, Donna of Olive Branch, Mississippi, and Bill Rinks of Memphis; 2 brothers, Gene Rinks and wife, Marie of Stantonville, and James Rinks and wife, Shirley of Crossville, Tennessee.Also survived by 5 grandchildren, Cpl. James Scott Powell, Cpl. John M. Powell, Lindsey Gonsowski, Patrick Noe, and Kristy Rinks. A great-granddaughter Cayla Gonsowski and a host of other relatives and friends.Other than his parents, Mr. Rinks was also preceded in death by a sister Virble Noe.
