Ella Marie Hill Leathers, 87, of Whiteville, died Tuesday, August 16, 2005 at Methodist Hospital in Somerville.
The widow of Elder Jack Leathers, who died October 4, 2002, she was a homemaker. Mrs. Leathers was born November 17, 1917 in Haywood County, daughter of the late John Blakemore Hill and Mary Moore Hill and lived most of her life around Cloverport. An avid gardener, quilter and sewer, she was active at the Senior Citizen Center at Bolivar. Mrs. Leathers frequently visited the sick with her husband while he pastored at Antioch Primitive Baptist Church at Cloverport where she was a member.
Services were 2 PM Friday, August 19, 2005 at Shackelford Funeral Directors Bolivar chapel with Paul Scott, Brian Leathers, Tommy Warner and Jimbo Anthony officiating. Burial was in Rainey Cemetery near Toone.
Survivors include two daughters, Shirley Warner of Whiteville and Wanda Anthony of Bolivar; three sons, John Thomas Leathers of Toone, Bedford David Leathers of Olive Branch, Miss. and Larry Leathers of Atoka; two sisters, Genelle Upton of Medon and Inez Etheridge of Toone; 14 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren and 2 great, great grandchildren.
