She was born in Lake View, Ontario, Canada, the daughter of the late Frank Van Ness and Mable Louise Chute Brackenbury. She received her nursing diploma from Victoria Hospital in London, Ontario, Canada and later received her Register Nursing Degree at Peabody College in Nashville in 1952. She moved to Henderson in 1952 and had made her home on West Sixth Street since 1954. She was the Public Health Nurse at the Chester County Health Department where she had worked for nearly thirty years. She continued to make her home on West Sixth Street until last fall. She loved to work in her flowers, quilting, and wood turning. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Henderson.She is survived by a daughter, Heather Appling and husband Richard of Scottsville, KY, four grandchildren and three great grandchildren; five sisters, Barbara Clarke of Ontario, Canada, Lois Taylor if Ottawa, Canada, Gloria Gibson, Mary Danbrook, and Diane Anderson all of Ontario,Canada. She was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Wilson and two brothers, Paul Brackenbury and Larry Brackenbury.
