Anne McCallum passed away Saturday afternoon at home surrounded by family and friends after a long bout with cancer.
She was born in Norwood, Georgia; graduated from Knox High and received a BS in Medical Technology from UT Center for Health Science in Memphis.
She married Dr. Oscar McCallum in 1953 and one of her most cherished accomplishments was supporting her husband’s family practice for over 40 years.
Dr. McCallum preceded her in death in 2001.
She is survived by three children Dr. Rex McCallum (Jan), Dr. Lee McCallum (Carla Beth) and Mrs. Kay Hale (Kyle), a niece Jan Barr (Ed) and a nephew Jay Floyd (Terry). She is also survived by six grandchildren David, Kim, Michael, Mark, Amy, and Emilee.
She was a faithful member of First United Methodist Church of Henderson and served in many capacities including: Sunday School teacher, Methodist Youth Fellowship (MYF) leader, Noah’s Ark board member and volunteer at the Gleaners House. She was an active member of the West Tennessee Emmaus community.
She participated in many aspects of the community including serving as the coordinator for the Red Cross Blood Drive for many years. She enjoyed working in her yard, playing bridge, and was known for her Christmas decorations and festivities.
Her love for God and devotion to her church continues after her death, as she has requested memorials be sent to First United Methodist Christian Life Center or to the Gleaners House (an outreach ministry of First United Methodist Church of Henderson).
