Mrs. Carter went to be with the Lord April 24, 2009.
She was a member of Marble City Baptist Church. Rea retired at age 75 from Eastern State Hospital. She was 95 years young. She loved working with her hands and reading the Bible for the residents at Brakebill Nursing Home where she has been a resident for the past five years. She was a life member of Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary, Chapter 24.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Manley and Carlee Harrell King; first husband, Thomas King; second husband, Allen B. Carter; brothers, William, Eugene, James and Bobby King all of Cloverport, TN; sister, Geneva Collins of Southaven, MS.
She is survived by sister, Joyce Nelson of Knoxville; two special nephews, Chris and Randy Nelson whom she helped raise; a host of nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
The family would like to give a special thanks to all the staff at Brakebill Nursing Home, for the love and wonderful care that Rea has received.
