Elijio Christie “Tex†Cavazos, 79, of Nashville, formerly of Toone, died Saturday afternoon, May 20, 2006 at Kendred Hospital in Nashville.
He was a Sergeant First Class in the U. S. Army, managed a Chevrolet dealership in Arkansas and made furniture. Mr. Cavazos was born April 20, 1927 in Edinburgh, Texas, son of the late Juan Manuel Cavazos Sr. and Jesusa Aquirre Cavazos. He lived in Hardeman County from 1965 to 1985 and in Little Rock for 10 years before making his home in Scotts Hill. He was Catholic in belief.
Services were 2:00 PM Tuesday, May 23, 2006 at Shackelford Funeral Directors Bolivar chapel with Bertie Moore officiating. Burial was in Ebenezer Cemetery near Toone.
He leaves six daughters, Connie Almaraz of Racine, WI, Rosa Ross of Toone, Rita Holt of Memphis, Reva Robinson of Germany, Rena Fuller of Houston, TX and Ramona Cavazos of Mobile, AL; two sons, Robert Cavazos of CA and Richard Cavazos of Scotts Hill; three sisters and two brothers, Lela Alvarado, Juanita Garza, Lupita Vega, Manuel Cavazos, Jr. and Virgilio “Pilo†Cavazos, all of Edinburgh; twelve grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
