Eileen Crighton Cooper, at age 91, passed away Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at NHC Place, Cool Springs in Franklin, Tennessee.
She was born May 5, 1927, in Manchester, England to Thomas Henry and Jessie Walker Crichton. Eileen was introduced to James Kerry Cooper while he was stationed in England during World War II. After several years in correspondence, she agreed to come to the United States and they married on July 29, 1947. She and her husband owned and operated Cooper's Grocery and Furniture Store in Whiteville. They were married for 46 years before his death in 1993. Mrs. Cooper was a 68+ year member of the Order of the Eastern Star and a member of Whiteville First United Methodist Church.
Eileen was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Jessica. She is survived by her children, Lynda Haynes of Austin, TX; Karen Landy of Chicago, IL; and Dr. James Kerry Cooper II of Madisonville, KY, who is currently serving in Kosovo. She is also survived by her granddaughter, Eileen Cooper and her children, Julianna and Carter; her grandsons, Chad Haynes, wife Amy and their children, Olivia, Jocelyn and Anika, Dr. David Landy, wife Dr. Amanda Silva and their daughter, Caroline, Dr. Noah Landy, and James Kerry Cooper III, wife Ellen; as well as several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
