Effie Lura Highland

Effie Lura Hudson Highlandwas born in Hardin County, Tennessee on June 22, 1926 the daughter of the late James Cleveland and Delzia Grimes Hudson.On March 13, 1960 she was united in marriage to Cecil Highland, who preceded her in death on March 11, 1998.During her life, Ms. Highland had worked for Brown Shoe Company. She was a member of Southside Baptist Church and participated in all activities at including the Orange Hats at Savannah Healthcare.Ms. Highland departed this life on Sunday, August 17, 2008 at the age of 82 years, 1 month, 26 days.Ms. Highland is survived by her nieces: Lucille Lard, Ruby Hayes, Janice Reid, Evelyn Blankenship, Brenda Wilkerson, Barbara Keele, Joyce Morris; nephews: Leon Gray, Robert Hudson, Donny Hudson, Larry Hudson, Marlon Hudson; and a host of great nieces and nephews.In addition to her husband and parents, Ms. Highland was preceded in death by a sister, Lizzie Hudson Gray; 3 brothers: Alvin Hudson on July 28, 1944, Elbert (Bud) Hudson, and James Wilson Hudson; great-grandparents: Rebecca Cupples Grimes on January 25, 1960 and James Grimes Hudson; 2 nephews: James Hudson and David Hudson; a niece: Shirley Hudson.
