Mr. Newman passed away Sunday at the Regional Medical Center in Memphis.
The husband of Ollie F. Newman, who survives, he was a farmer. He was born to Asa Bell Newman and Roxanna Snow Newman, both of whom preceded him in death and lived most of his life here. He was pentecostal in faith and enjoyed woodworking and crafts and working with his hands. He was a musician, playing the banjo among other instruments.
In addition to his wife, whom he married on Jan 3, 1987, survivors include four daughters, DeAnna Mathis of Bolivar, Joan Allen of Bolivar, Paula Inman of Nashville and Tammy Davis of Parsons; four sons, David Newman of Bolivar, Johnny Newman of Selmer, Terry Newman of Decaturville and Joel Newman of Bolivar; 13 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by seven sisters and brothers and a son in law, Dave Mathis.
