EDWARD E. HAWLEY
was born on March 6, 1923 in Bridgeport, Illinois the son of the late Charles and Nellie Hare Hawley.
He served in the Army and reenlisted in the Air Force where he remained for 37 years retiring as Master Sargent. He was a helicopter crew chief and was very proud of his time spent serving his country. Mr. Hawley was both a World War II and Vietnam Veteran. After retiring, he and his family moved to Savannah where he worked as a carpenters helper and he also worked in maintenance at Hardin Home Nursing Home and the Tennessee River Pulp and Paper Mill. He always had a love for trains and had a hobby train set which he worked on many years and displayed proudly.
He spent the last few years of his life happily at Riverwick Assisted Living until he became ill and moved to the Tennessee Veterans Home where he passed away.
He was married to Jo Ann Webb Hawley, who preceded him in death.
Mr. Hawley is survived by Roger and Wanda Hawley of Savannah, their children and families, Paul, Keri and Hunter Hawley of Clifton, Tennessee, Jeffery Hawley of Savannah, Tennessee and his stepdaughter, Melanie Webb of Savannah, Tennessee.
He is also survived by two sisters, Betty Engledow of Marion, Ohio and Mary Richardson of Vincennes, Indiana and two brothers, Hershel Hawley of Texas and Thomas Hawley of Vincennes, Indiana.
Mr. Hawley was also preceded in death by 4 brothers and sisters, Beulah Doran, Bertha Reuschneck, Charles Hawley, Jr. and George Hawley.
