Edward Lee Cleek

Edward Lee Cleek, 67, of Medon, died Monday, April 10, 2006 at his home.



The widower of Debra Browning Cleek, who died in 2001, he had most recently worked at Proctor and Gamble in Jackson. Mr. Cleek was born February 1, 1939 in Bemis, son of William Rudolf Cleek and Linnie Mae Cleek of Medon. He attended Toone Elementary School, graduating from Bolivar Central High School in 1957 where he played on the basketball team. He attended barber school and was a member of New Union Baptist Church since his childhood. He loved church, old cars, sports and he loved to fish.



Services were 2:00 PM Thursday, April 13, 2006 at Shackelford Funeral Directors Bolivar chapel with Bro. Travis Wilbanks officiating. Burial was in New Union Cemetery near Medon.



In addition to his parents, survivors include three daughters, Sarah Howell of Middleton, Joyce Cleek of Rogers Springs and Marie Jacobs of Booneville, Miss.; one son, Ed Cleek, Jr. of Middleton; one sister, Mary Ann Wiggins of Houston, Tex.; one brother, Wayne Cleek of Medon and six grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by one brother, William Rudy Cleek.
