Edward Duane Braun December 29, 1952 - January 24, 2025-- Edward Braun of Finger, Tennessee, formerly of Manchester, Michigan, passed away at the age of 72 in Corinth, Mississippi.
Edward was born in Tecumseh, MI to Helen and Duane Braun. He was the youngest of four and the only boy. While growing up in Manchester, Ed enjoyed playing school sports, spending time with his grandparents, and working small jobs. Ed had a great work ethic instilled in him from his parents and grandparents at an early age. It was a work ethic he took with him throughout his nearly 35 year career at Ford and into his retirement job as the custodian at Henderson City Hall in Tennessee. Ed was known as the go to guy, but also knew how to have fun. He played more than a few pranks in his days at City Hall much to the delight of his co-workers. Though he would be quick to point out, they gave just as good as they got!
There wasn't a household task or car repair that was ever too tough for Ed. He built rooms on houses, barns, and numerous other projects. He enjoyed working on his 1986 mustang and even owned a dump truck and excavator. He was always willing to help a neighbor.
Though he took pride in his work, his true pride and joy was his son, Jonathan. He taught him everything he knew about maintaining a home, fixing a car, and being a dad; along with a few colorful words along the way! The words would fly when Jon and Ed got to working on a project! But the job always got done right. And no one would believe that calm Mr. Ed would be capable of such words.
His daughter-in-law Sara Braun would help keep both in line and always playfully challenge Ed's grumpy German front to reveal his soft kind personality inside. Ed loved Sara as a daughter, he was thankful to have someone in the family that challenged him in a joking manner and knew his son was in the best hands.
The last two years, Ed found immense joy in being a grandfather to a little girl, Elizabeth Grace Ann. We watched as the tough patriarch of the family melted when his granddaughter came along. Wrenches and hammers were replaced with tea parties and princess crowns. He adored his granddaughter and she adored him right back. It was a special bond we were all honored to witness.
Left to carry on Ed's legacy are his son Jonathan (Sara) Braun of Michigan, granddaughter, Elizabeth; sisters Carol (Jim) Aldrich of Florida and Judy Prince of North Carolina along with many nieces, nephews, family, and friends. Preceding him in death were his parents, sister Janet Avery, and granddaughter Anna Michele Braun.
A celebration of life will be held at a later time in both Michigan and Tennessee.
In lieu of flowers please honor Ed through donations to Manchester Public Schools (Michigan) Robotics Team and Science Technology Engineering and Math student scholarships. Donations can be provided here. https://gofund.me/b2d3aef9
