Edna Ruth Stewart

March 7, 1934 — June 2, 2007

Mrs. Stewart was born and reared in Cookeville, TN the daughter of the late Felix Edward and Nina Garrison Bilbrey. She went to school in Putnam County and graduated Central High School in 1952. She was married to Lester Stewart in 1954. They lived in different places while Lester served in the U. S. Navy and the U. S. Air Force, including North Carolina and Virginia. After Lester retired from the service they moved to Henderson in 1973.



Ruth worked for Freed-Hardeman University from 1974 to 1996 where she worked in, and managed the mail room most of that time.



She and Lester enjoyed traveling in their RV and enjoyed spending time at Gulf Shores. They spent several months working with the Creekwood Church of Christ in Mobile, AL in the Katrina Disaster Relief effort.



She is survived by her husband Lester H. Stewart of Henderson and two sons Stephen R. Stewart and wife Brenda of Lakeland and Mark E. Stewart and wife Diane of Henderson, 3 grandchildren, 4 step grandchildren, 1 step great grandson, a brother Ivan Bilbrey and a sister Lorraine Warren both of Cookeville



Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Tuesday at the Estes Church of Christ with Ray Russell, Roy Sharp, and Mark Blackwelder officiating and burial will follow in the Estes Cemetery.



In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Estes Church of Christ disaster relief effort.



The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM Monday and Tuesday at the church from 9:00 AM until the funeral time.
