Edith S. Long

Edith S. Sheffield Long was born January 10, 1919 in McNairy County, Tennessee the daughter of the late Leonard and Ida Caroline Ingle Sheffield.She was united in marriage to David Crockett Long on April 29, 1941. Mr. Long preceded her in death on July 25, 1955.Mrs. Long was a retired presser with Slant and Slant Garment factory and a homemaker. She was a member of the United Pentecostals of Bethel Springs. She also loved gardening and yard work, especially tending to her flower garden.Mrs. Long departed this life on August 9, 2006 in Selmer, Tennessee at the age of 87 Years, 6 Months, 30 Days. She is survived by a daughter, Ann L. Burns and husband Don of Ramer, Tennessee; a son, Robert S. Long and wife Sandra of Selmer; two sisters, Lorraine Shappell and Marie Heinz both of Collierville, Tennessee; two brothers, Harold Sheffield of South Carolina and Larry Sheffield of Memphis, Tennessee; two grandchildren, Donnie Burns of Murfreesboro, Tennessee and Lisa Hysmith of Selmer; four great grandchildren, Lindsey Burns, Zack Burns, Elizabeth Burns and Darby Hollin.Other than her parents and her husband, Mrs. Long was preceded in death by a son, David Deon Long and three brothers, Cleo Sheffield, Lloyd Sheffield and J. L. Sheffield.
