Edith Mae Lewis, 78, of Saulsbury, formerly of Corinth, Miss., died Saturday evening, April 7, 2007 at Park Rest Nursing Home in Savannah.
The widow of James Henry Lewis, who died in 1985, she was a homemaker. Mrs. Lewis was born December 28, 1928 in Hardeman County, daughter of the late Edgar Don Gatewood and Irene Duncan Gatewood. She attended West Memorial Baptist Church near Saulsbury.
Survivors include one sister, Betty Gatewood Berryman of Burlington, WI; eight sisters-in-law; Charlene Gatewood of Corinth, MS, Floy Gatewood of Nunnely, Lillie Gatewood of Bolivar, Mildred Gatewood Almy of Aurora, IL, Ruth Lewis Burcham and Jeanette Lewis Biggs, both of Corinth, Margaret Lewis Dupree of Huntsville, AL and Sue Lewis Null of Guys; many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her son, James Thomas "Tommy" Lewis; three sisters, Olevia Gatewood Callahan, Mary Frances Gatewood, Christine Gatewood Lee and six brothers, James Franklin, Merven Millard, Bunyon, W. D., Elbert Leo "Buster" and Laverne Edward Gatewood.
