EDITH BAKER
was born in Hardin County, Tennessee on December 6, 1923 the daughter of the late John and Ella Mae Stricklin Petty.
She was united in marriage to James Everett Baker, who preceded his wife in death.
Mrs. Baker was retired owner and operator of Northwood Grocery Store and she also worked for Brown Shoe Company for 15 years. She was a member of Northwood Baptist Church. Mrs. Baker enjoyed playing the guitar, sewing, reading the Bible, cooking, watching Wheel of Fortune and also enjoyed watching the Gospel station from the Adamsville T. V. station. Hummingbirds and Squirrels were some of her favorite birds and animals. Mrs. Baker loved her family, especially her grandchildren.
She departed this life on December 27, 2008 in Jackson, Tennessee at the age of 85 years and 21 days.
Mrs. Baker is survived by 2 daughters, Judy Owen and Sandra Baker, both of Savannah, Tennessee
1 grandchild, Paige Jobe and 2 great-grandchildren, Allison Baker and Ashlyn Baker
2 sisters, Lorene Crotts of Savannah, Tennessee and Linda Jarrett of Morris Chapel, Tennessee
one brother, Johnny Petty of Savannah, Tennessee
Other than her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by 3 sisters, Agnes Stricklin, Sue Spinella and Lillie Mae Young.
