Clara Edith Hobbs Collie Anderson, a native of Wayne County, died on Thursday, March 13, 2008 at Savannah Healthcare. She was born September 13, 1928 to the late Hobart Hobbs and Gela Marie Russell Hobbs. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Joshua Lee Collie. She made her home in the West End area of Waynesboro from 1953 until 1971 relocating to the Havanna and Sparks Bend Community until present. To support her family in the 50’s and 60’s she worked at Genesco Manufacturing and Bunch Grocery in Waynesboro and in 1964 worked at Clifton Manufacturing until her retirement. She was a 20 year member of First Baptist Church in Waynesboro and a 36 year member of Havanna Community Church in Hardin County. Mrs. Edith was lways giving to anyone in need and was a longtime supporter of St. Jude Research Hospital contributing for over 35 years.
She is survived by a daughter, Brenda Collie Rose and her husband Clark of Clifton, TN; sons, David Collie, Jr. and his wife Cindy of Columbia, Steve Collie and his wife Gilda of Collinwood, Mark Collie of Nashville, Jonathan Collie of Hohenwald, and Andy Anderson and his wife Lisa of
Havelock, NC; grandchildren, Amy Turner, Jason Collie, Barbara Floyd, Chris Collie, Clark Rose II, Kristina Rose Bragg, Nathan Collie, Savanna and Joseph Collie, Connor and Case Anderson; great-grandchildren, Lena, Lexi, and Lila Turner; J.B. and Katherine Bragg; brother and sister-in-law, Jimmy and Elsie Hobbs of Waynesboro.
