ED (SPOON) WITHERSPOONwas born in Wayne County, Tennesee on November 21, 1933 the son of the late Alfred and Etta Chandler Witherspoon.On September 20, 1961 he was united in marriage to the former Bessie Ruth Churchwell, who survives. Mr. Witherspoon was a retired self-employed construction worker. He was a United States Army Veteran. Mr. Witherspoon was a member of Mt. Tabor Baptist Church in Clifton, Tennessee. He enjoyed hunting, gardening, yard work and boxing.Mr. Witherspoon is survived by a loving devoted wife of 47 years, Bessie Witherspoon and 15 children, Wanda and Vic, Norman and Tesa, Larry and Vera, Marala, Pamela and Jim, Robert and Barbara, George and Patricia, Jerry and Robbie, James, Derrick, Ezella and Jose, Tennie and Lamar, Letta Etta, Contrina, and Jan and one adopted son, Tom Setzer, all of Tennessee29 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren2 sisters, Marretta Davis of Troy, Idaho and Mable Green of Pontiac, MichiganHe is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews and other relativesOther than his parents, he was also preceded in death by 5 brothers and sisters, Alfred, Jessie, A. V., Katy and Ethea.
