Mrs. Baker passed away Thursday afternoon at her home in La Grange.
The wife of L.P. Baker, Sr., who survives, she formerly worked as a waitress at George's Coffee Shop. A native of New Albany, MS, Mrs. Baker was born to the late J.D. Youngblood and Ada May Raines Youngblood and lived most of her life in Memphis before moving to La Grange in 2004. She was Baptist in faith.
In addition to her husband, to whom she was married in 1987, she is survived by three daughters, Evie White of Munford, Peggy Turner of Greenwood, MS, Judy Hughes of Slayden, MS; three sons, Joseph Embrey of Tucson, AZ, Robert Embrey of Grand Junction, William Embrey of Mt. Pleasant, MS; a sister, Bernice Martin of Horn Lake, MS; a brother, Bill Youngblood of Coldwater, MS; six grandchildren, Jennifer Archibald, Rebecca Embrey, Tonya Embrey, Katherine Markley, Darrell Franks, Cody Embrey; a step-son, L.P. Baker, Jr.; and a host of great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Jesse Wilbur Embrey, who died May 1979; and a brother, Jimmy Youngblood.
