Mr. Earl Eudy Melvin was born March 23, 1925 in Gosnell, Arkansas the son of the late Roy and Ethel Mae Smith Melvin. He was raised by his step-father, James Flowers.Mr. Melvin was united in marriage to Christine Pauline Jones, who survives. Mr. Melvin was a retired farmer, and he was a member of the Bethel Springs Church of God. Mr. Melvin was also a veteran of the United States Army, having served during the Korean War. He was a resident of Tri County Convelescent Home at the time of his death.Mr. Melvin departed this life on November 12, 2005 in Selmer, Tennessee at the age of 80 Years, 7 Months, 20 Days.He is survived by his wife, Christine Pauline Jones Melvin of Selmer, Tennessee; two daughters Deborah Holland and husband Vernon Ray of Leapwood, Tennessee and Mary Louise Yeager and husband Gary of Memphis, Tennessee; a son, Earl Eugene Melvin and companion Rena Ellis of Selmer, Tennessee; two sisters; Ruby Flowers of Carothersville, Missouri and Pomy Mooney of Michigan; a brother, Marion Flowers of Steele, Missouri; five grandchildren Tonya Renee McCall of Carothersville, Missouri, Wendy Petty of Texas, Anna Louise Leonard of DeSoto, Missouri, Angie Hudgins of Dyersburg, Tennessee and Steven Leonard of Bethel Springs, Tennessee; and three great-grandchildren Carolyn Christine Hudgins of Dyersburg, Tennessee, Destiny McCall of Carothersville, Missouri and Joshua Ray Leonard of Bethel Springs.In addition to his parents, Mr. Melvin was preceded in death by four children Mary Ellen Melvin, Ethel May Melvin, James Edgar Melvin and George Edgar Melvin and two sisters Bessie Stafford and Josephine Melvin.
