He was born and reared in the Deanburg Community of Chester County, the son of the late W.V. “Will†Harris, Sr. and Margaret Edith Hearn Harris. He attended Chester County Schools and graduated Chester County High School in 1944. He entered the U.S. Army in 1944; he served in the South Pacific, the Philippines Islands. After the war ended he served as a Sergeant in the Military Police in the Japanese War Trials. He returned in 1947 and was married to Jo Liene Cain in 1949. They made their home at Deanburg where Mr. Harris farmed. He drove a school bus for the Chester County School System for 21 years, after that he began work with Murray Guard in Jackson in 1968, and retired as Lieutenant in 1989. While at Murray Guard he was Chief of Security at Bendix Corporation. He had worked with the Chester County Sanitation Department for eight years at the Chickasaw Collection Station. He was a member of the Chester County Farm Bureau, Deanburg Community Club and Pleasant Springs Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife Jo Liene Cain Harris; a son Tony Harris and wife Kimba; a daughter Janice Julian and husband Jimmy all of Deanburg; five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; three brothers Ward Harris of Henderson, Joe Harris of Jackson and Paul Harris of Finger; and four sisters Frances Grimm and Dorothy Bratcher both of Jackson, Linda Blankenship of Decatur, AL and Ailiene Cain of Pinson.
He was preceded in death by a brother Junior Harris.
