Earl Gilchrist was born September 15, 1931 in McNairy County, TN the son of the late Roscoe and Amanda Milford Gilchrist.
He was united in marriage to Johnnie Ruth McMahan on December 21, 1951. Mrs. Gilchrist preceded him in death on December 12, 2011.
Mr. Gilchrist was a devoted family man, proud farmer and a God-fearing Christian. He raised seven children and hundreds of crops. He believed in hard work and spent many days catching beans, chopping firewood and working on equipment in his old green shed. When the work was done, he rarely missed a game at the domino hall and enjoyed a good fishing trip. He was strong in his faith and never deviated from or made excuses for his beliefs. He read his Bible every night and lived by the words of its scripture every day. For those who knew him best, he will be remembered for his ever-present smile and kind and generous spirit. He rarely uttered a harsh word or complaint and considered each moment of his rich life a blessing.
Mr. Gilchrist departed this life on January 4, 2012 in Corinth, Mississippi at the age of 80 Years, 3 Months, 20 Days. He is survived by three daughters, Kay Moore and husband Randy of Adamsville, TN, Nancy Wade of Adamsville, TN, Molly Skinner and husband Ronnie of Adamsville, TN; three sons, Rickey Gilchrist and wife Amy of Stantonville, TN, Jed Gilchrist and wife Anita of Adamsville, TN, Keith Gilchrist and wife Jeani of Adamsville, TN;
three sisters, Linda Sue Moore and husband Kenneth of Bethel Springs, TN, Martha Dudley and husband Karl of Adamsville, TN, Shirley Bruce of Stantonville, TN; three brothers, Billy F. Gilchrist and wife Francis of Adamsville, TN, his twin brother, Gerald Gilchrist and wife Joyce of Stantonville, TN, Joe David Gilchrist and wife Mary Dell of Henderson, TN;
nine grandchildren, John Moore and wife Brenda, Jody Gilchrist and wife Brandy, Nicole Gibbs and husband Daniel, Jason Gilchrist and wife Jamie, Brandy Campbell and husband Derek, Katrina Fiddler and husband Robert, Amba Clayton, Ashley Heiring and husband Dale, Nathan Skinner;
twelve great grandchildren, River Moore, Kyle Moore, Hunter Brown, Hayden Brown, Hannah Kiser, Austin Campbell, Emma Campbell, Tucker Campbell, Jacob Bowles, Rylan Gilchrist, McKenna Clayton, Blaine Clayton; host of extended family and friends.
In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Gilchrist was preceded in death by a daughter, Theda Gilchrist; infant brother and sister; special uncle, Kirk Gilchrist.
