Earl Willis Butler

January 21, 1925 — October 6, 2005

Earl Willis Butler, Jr. was born on January 21, 1925 in Bibb County, Georgia the son of the late Earl Willis, Sr. and Mary Melson Butler.

On February 15, 1947 he was united in marriage to the former Geraldine Smith, who preceded her husband in death on March 9, 2001.

Mr. Butler was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of the First Methodist Church of Savannah, Tennessee. He was retired from Tennessee River Pulp and Paper Company, where he had worked as a superintendent.

Mr. Butler was also a member of the Savannah Masonic Lodge 102, a Shriner, and a Scottish Rite Mason.

He departed this life on October 6, 2005 at Hardin Medical Center in Savannah, Tennessee at the age of 80 years, 8 months and 15 days. Mr. Butler is survived by

two sons: Earl W. Butler, III and his wife, Rhonda and Richard S. Butler and his wife, Carolyn, all of Savannah;

a daughter, Geraldine B. Dorris and her husband, Anthony, of Memphis, Tennessee;

5 grandchildren; one great-grandchild;

and two brothers: Melson Butler of Macon, Georgia and Walter Butler of Atlanta, Georgia.
