Douglas Morton Wiley

Douglas Morton Wiley of Savannah, TN was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa on April 2, 1934 and is the son of James and Wilhelmina Wiley. 

Doug died peacefully at Azura Memory Care in Wausau, WI at 6:02 am on Friday January 10, 2025. Our family is comforted knowing that Douglas is a believer in Jesus Christ, was baptized and is now living in the glory of the Lord along with his wife Bonnie.

Douglas was married to Bonnie Mae Taylor on December 22, 1957 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Bonnie died on November 23, 2018. 

Douglas graduated from Luther College in 1959 where he studied mathematics. He spent two years in the US Army and then worked for Northwestern Bell and US West for 30 years. Within his career he lived in Davenport, IA; Muscatine, IA; Sioux City, IA, Detroit Lakes, MN; Sioux Falls, SD and in 1969 moved to Minneapolis, MN where he finished his career.

Douglas and Bonnie Wiley retired in 1989 and before moving to Savannah, TN, enjoyed their early retirement years living on a boat and cruising the Caribbean, TomBigbee Waterway and the Mississippi River from Lake Superior to the Gulf of Mexico. In 1994 they docked their boat on Pickwick Lake and made Savannah, TN home. They were very involved in their community including the Bruton Branch Homeowners Association, Pyburn Union Church and local charities like CAM and RHEMA Shelter.

Douglas is survived by four children, Laura, Sarah, Paul and Thomas, his grandchildren, Daniel, Haanah, Shayna, Stevie, Noah, Naomi, Rachel, Joshua, Taylor, Isabelle and great grandchildren, Ramsey, Leonardo, Nixon and Israel.
