Douglas Edward Newcomb departed this life on Saturday, May 22, 2021, at the age of 57 years, 10 months, and 5 days. He was born in Memphis, Tennessee on July 17, 1963, the son of the late Kirmit "Shorty" and Edna Louise Cox Newcomb. On October 22, 1982, he was united in marriage to Wilma Gladish, who survives.
Douglas had lived in Hardin County most of his life and attended Center Hill Baptist Church. He was a truck driver for Elam Trucking Company for over 20 years. Douglas enjoyed fishing, racing, cooking, but most of all he enjoyed being with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Douglas is survived by his wife, Wilma Newcomb of Counce, Tennessee; children, Melissa Parson and her husband Nick of Shiloh, Tennessee, Edward Newcomb of Counce, Tennessee, Misty McCain and her husband Stephen of Saltillo, Tennessee, Tyler Smith of Shiloh, Tennessee, Isaiah Smith of Selmer, Tennessee, and Johnathan Patterson and his companion Ashley Kiestler of Stantonville, Tennessee; grandchildren, Taylor, Abbygail, Kinzi, Eli, Jaxson, Johnathon, Dusty, Brooklyn, Paisley, and Jacob; great grandchild, Pheoby; brothers, Billy Newcomb of Counce, Tennessee, David Newcomb and his wife Rindly of Selmer, Tennessee, Butch Newcomb of Burnsville, Mississippi, and Larry Newcomb and his wife Twyla of Muscle Shoals, Alabama; and sister, Lissa Farris and her husband Kenny of Savannah, Tennessee.
In addition to his parents, Douglas was preceded in death by his brothers, Jimmy Newcomb and James Newcomb; and his sisters, Wanda Fae Newcomb and Kathy Newcomb.
