Dorothy M. Smith, 80, of Bolivar, died Saturday evening, January
15, 2005 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
The widow of Herman Smith, who died October 30, 1990, she was a
nurse for 32 years, working in home heathcare after her retirement
from Western Mental Health Institute. Mrs Smith was born August
29, 1924 in Wilson, Arkansas, daughter of the late Lee and Myrtle
Day Rash and made her home in Hardeman County 65 years ago.
She loved to cook and can for her family and was an avid reader.
Mrs. Smith was a member of the Bolivar Church of God.
Services were 2 pm Tuesday, January 18 at Shackelford's Bolivar
chapel with Chip Woods officiating. Burial was in Bolivar Memorial Cemetery.
Survivors include three daughters, Ruth Brownewell of Bolivar,
Dora Berry of Middleton and Alice Anderson of Bartlett; two sons,
Kenneth Lee McLain of Jackson and William Earl McAnally of
Atoka; 24 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; 4 great, great
grandchildren and her good friend Phyllis. In addition her husband, she was preceded in death by one sister, Dora McLain; one brother, Bill Rash and two great grandchildren, Jason Gomez and Cody Burk.
