WASHINGTON…Dorothy I. Isbell, 85, of Washington, Illinois passed away at 4:00 a.m., Thursday, April 25, 2013 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
Dorothy was born on March 20, 1928 in Selmer, Tennessee to Beal and Hattie (Johnson) Locke. She married her one true love, Wilton D. Isbell, on November 23, 1946 in Corinth, Mississippi. Wilton died on April 20, 1989.
Among those surviving are two sons, Wayne and Randy Isbell, both of Washington, IL; two daughters, Lucy (James W., Sr.) Cannon of Peoria Heights, IL and Amber (Greg) Neaveill of Germantown Hills, IL; two brothers, J.T. and Bobby Locke, both of Selme, TN; three sisters, Lila (James) Qualls and Agnes McGee, both of Selmer, TN and Jane (Joe) Kirkman of Ripley, Mississippi; nine grandchildren, Michelle, Jon, Andrew, Valerie, Clair, Tyler, Matt, Chris and Sam and three great grandchildren, Jason, Hunter and Leah. She was also preceded in death by one son, Lynn and five brothers and sisters.
Dorothy had worked as a certified nurses aid at Washington Christian Village for more than 35 years, after retirement continued to do volunteer work at the nursing home. She had been a lifetime member of Sunnyland Christian Church and active in Christian Women’s Fellowship at the church.
Dorothy also had volunteered at the Salvation Army and loved to tend to her garden and grow flowers. She dearly loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren, whom she would spoil at every opportunity and would never miss one of their activities.
