Dorothy Sammons Holtzschue, 83, of Whiteville, died Wednesday, May 16, 2007 at Bright Glade Convalescent Center in Memphis.
The widow of Theodore (Ted) Sevier Holtzschue, who died in July of 1982, she was a homemaker. Mrs. Holtzschue was born September 3, 1923 in Haywood County, daughter of the late Alvin and Beulah Little Sammons. After graduating from Whiteville High School, she lived in Memphis for 41 years before returning to make her home in Whiteville in 1983. She was a member of Harmony Baptist Church in Whiteville.
Survivors include four sisters and their husbands, Elizabeth and Don Gale of Winter Haven, Fla., Rebecca Bomar and her late husband, J. W. of Whiteville, Sue and Bill Gross of Memphis and Linda and R. A. Cross of Bolivar; seventeen nieces and nephews and many great and great, great nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Juanita McGarrh and brother, John W. “Sonny†Sammons.
