Donna Ruth Barnes Hopkins, age 84, passed away at her home on March 13, 2022. She was born in Burnsville, MS on August 24, 1937 to the late Dewey and Thunia Barnes. Preceding her in death were her husband, Billy Gene Hopkins; four sisters: Bonnie Stahl, Tess Jobe, Betty Johnson, and Kathryn Voyles; and a son-in-law, Bobby Redmon.
She is survived by four children: Vikki Holt (Jere) of Nashville, TN: Tracy Redmon of Selmer, TN; Anthony Hopkins (Nancy) of Guys, TN; and Marty Hopkins (Kelly) of Madison, MS. She has six grandchildren, Brooke Redmon, Kirby Jaco, Billy Bob Hopkins, Brent Redmon, Bridget Johnson, and Chris Dykes; five sisters: Doris Willis (Bob), Cleda Rencher, Peggy Cooksey (Tommy), Tommie Nell Barnes, and Pat Dexter; and numerous great grandchildren.
Donna grew up in Pickwick, TN and was the fourth oldest out of ten sisters. She graduated from Southside High School in 1955 where she excelled in basketball. She married Billy Hopkins in August, 1955 and together, they farmed and owned several businesses near the TN/MS state line. She loved spending time with her children, sisters, and grandchildren. She also loved to go junking, antique shopping, and traveling. She fought dementia for 13 years. Special thanks to her caretakers, Diane Rickman, Judy Rogers, Kim Rogers and Hospice.
