DONALD ROWLETT

Pinson, TN: Robert Donald Rowlett, age 86, passed away February 18, 2025, at his home.

He was born May 3, 1938, in the Sweetlips Community of Chester County, the son of the late Robert Taft and Alma Lessie Bridges Rowlett. He attended County Line Elementary and Chester County High School, graduating in 1956.

He married Doris Jean Hooper on June 1, 1961, and they made their home in Henderson most of their sixty-three and a half years together. He worked for twenty-nine years and three months for the railroad and then for the USPS as a mail carrier for thirty-three years in both Pinson and Henderson Post Offices, retiring in 2000.

He was a member of the Friendship Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon since the 1970’s.

He enjoyed raising a big garden, traveling to the mountains and going to Brenda’s Kitchen and Bells Diner.

He enjoyed spending time with his grandsons and watching them trap shoot. He taught them the basics of taking care of trucks, lawn mowers and taught them to drive a stick shift.

Mr. Rowlett is survived by his wife, Doris Jean Hooper Rowlett of Pinson; a daughter, Donna Jane Bishop (Douglas) of Henderson; two grandsons, William Keith Bishop and Justin Douglas Bishop (Lindsay) and two great grandsons, Weston Wiley Bishop and Waylon Robert Bishop and a brother, Jim Rowlett (Jane) of Pinson.

He was preceded in death by, his parents, a daughter, Dolores Ann Rowlett and a brother, Jerry Burl Rowlett.

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM, Sunday, Feb. 23rd at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue with Bro. Glenn Harris officiating. Burial will follow at New Friendship Cemetery.

The family will receive friends, Saturday, at Crook Avenue 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM, and Sunday 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM service time.
