Donald Lynn Cathey

Finger, TN: Donald Lynn Cathey, age 80, passed away at his home in Finger early Saturday afternoon, January, 9, 2021.
He was born September 18, 1940 in Memphis, TN son of the late George Arlee and Hilda Jane Carter Cathey. He grew up in Memphis and was a graduate of Treadwell High School. He married Martha Jean Sykes on September 27, 1962 and they made their home in Memphis until moving to Chester County in 2005. Martha preceded him in death on January 30, 2007. He worked as a sales representative for Sam’s Club in both Memphis and Jackson, retiring in 2008.
He enjoyed the country life and after moving to Finger, he tended cattle for Clayton Farms. He was a Nascar fan and often took his camper to races. He also liked watching football and was an Alabama Crimson Tide fan.
He is survived by two sons, Donald Cathey, Jr. and wife Angie of Springfield, TN and Michael Cathey and fiancée Vanessa Palmer of Foley, AL; five grandchildren Timothy, Jonathan and Steven Martin, Kaitlyn Skivers, Dustin Shaw; two great grandchildren Natalie and Mason Martin; and a very special friend of 5 years Sandra Wilson of Finger, TN.
In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers George and Bill Cathey and a sister Judy Mitchell.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at Shackelford Funeral Directors of Henderson’s Crook Avenue Chapel with burial in the Old Friendship Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Crook Avenue Chapel on Wednesday from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM.
The family asks attendees to please wear facial coverings and practice social distancing as much as possible.
