Dennis Wayne Lumpkin was born April 22, 1955 in Corinth, MS, the son of the late Robert Lewis and Rozell Meeks Lumpkin. Over the years he has played and worked with many bands in many different places around the country. He played with bands such as the Amazons, Cilver Whiskey, Kee Lane Band, Sandy Carroll Band and producer Jim Gaines, as well as many others. Most recently he played with the Frankie Marlar Band for the past 11 years. He worked for Gibson Guitars in Nashville, TN for 13 years before leaving to play on the road in 1988. He enjoyed building and repairing guitars. He was a member of the National Musicians Association. Mr. Lumpkin departed this life on August 31, 2016 in Corinth, Mississippi at the age of 61 Years, 4 Months, 9 Days.
He is survived by a sister, April Denise Lee and husband Michael of Ramer, TN; two nephews, Robert Peyton and Michael Braxton Lee; and a host of friends and other relatives.
Services will be held on September 2, 2016 at 3:00 PM at Shackelford Funeral Directors in Selmer, Tennessee, with officiating. Burial will follow in the Falcon Cemetery at Selmer, Tennessee.
