Mr. Morton was born in the Wilson School Community of Chester County, the son of the late Vernon and Fleet Kirkpatrick Morton. He was raised by his step-mother Velma Moten. He attended schools in Chester County and farmed as a young man. He entered the U. S. Air Force in 1947 and was stationed in Guam, Japan and returned in 1951. After the service he lived in Ohio where he met and married Mary Cory. They made their home in Ohio, Kansas, and Arizona and he worked in construction. They moved to Chester County in the early 1960’s and Mr. Morton farmed and did some construction work.
He is survived by his wife Mary Cory Morton and three sons: Kenny Lytle and wife Joan of Phoenix, Edward D. Morton and wife Beverly of Henderson and Vernon Lynn Morton of Finger and three daughters; Donna Allen of Phoenix, Kimberly Nelson and husband Phil of Lakeland, and Lori Jayne Morton of Finger. He is also survived by two brothers Kenneth Joe Morton of Henderson and Richard Allen Morton of Carrollton, GA and a sister Hazel Marie Pettit of Dresden. He has 10 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter Pamela Sue Morton and a sister Hazel Oral Morton.
