David “Glenn” Smith, 80, of Bartlett, TN, was called home to Heaven on February 23, 2025. Born on April 25, 1944, in Montezuma, TN, he met the love of his life and developed an unwavering faith and strong character early on, all of which remained central to who he was throughout his life. Glenn was a dedicated member, Sunday school teacher, and deacon at Still Waters Baptist Church. He devoted 25 years of his career to Sears, later retiring from Hamilton Beach. In his retirement, he found joy in simple pleasures like a cup of coffee on the back porch with Barbara, talking proudly about their grandchildren and reminiscing over memories that spanned 62 years of marriage.
Glenn is survived by his wife Barbara, children Valerie (Steve) Breault, Keith (Claudia) Smith, and Patrick (Amy) Smith, along with grandchildren, Madelyn, Cole, Emma, Carson, Sara, and Jack, and two sisters, Barbara Ann Weaver and Peggy Patterson. He is now reunited in heaven with his parents, Gladys and Jack Smith, and brothers, James, Maynard, and Douglas.
Visitation will take place on Saturday, March 1, at 12 pm, followed by a service at 2 pm, both at Shackelford Funeral Directors located at 304 Crook Ave, Henderson, TN. Bro. Don Amburn and Bro. Ronnie Geary will officiate. Burial will take place at Cave Springs Cemetery following the service.
Though he may have left this world, so much of who he was will remain in the hearts of those who love him. As we say goodbye for now to an exceptional husband, father, and “Papa,” let us remember to live as he did—putting God first and filling our days with what matters most.
