David Smith

David Smith was born July 30, 1935 in McNairy County, TN the son of the late James (Frank) Franklin and Monnie Eron Gillham Smith.

He was united in marriage to Phyllis Regenia Pounds on January 29, 1965.

Mr. Smith worked for 29 years in the cutting department at Garan Manufacturing. For 13 years, he was one of the partners and plant manager of McNairy Shirtworks. He was a member of Mt. Sharon Presbyterian Church in the Gilchrist Community. An avid gardener who grew some of the best tomatoes, corn and watermelons. He also loved woodworking, chasing his grandsons, and watching them play ball.

Mr. Smith departed this life on May 17, 2022 in Selmer, Tennessee at the age of 86 Years, 9 Months, 17 Days. He is survived by his wife Regenia Smith of Adamsville, TN; a daughter, Bridget Kiestler and husband Kenneth of Bethel Springs, TN; a sister, Dorothy Moore of Adamsville, TN; three grandchildren, Logan Kiestler, Kendall Kiestler, and Jase Kiestler; and host of nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Smith was preceded in death by two brothers, James Ray Smith, Tracy Smith.
