David Franklin Nuckolls, 92, of Toone, died Wednesday, May 4, 2005 at Bolivar General Hospital.
The husband of Moetta Evans Nuckolls, who survives, he was a farmer. Mr. Nuckolls was born December 27, 1912 in Hardeman County, son of the late Albert Tillman Nuckolls and Orene Naylor Nuckolls and lived here most of his life. He received his Bachelors Degree from the University of Tennessee and served in the U.S. Army for four years during WWII. Mr. Nuckolls was past President of the Hardeman County Farm Bureau and served on the Hardeman County Co-op Board, the Hardeman County Library Board and as an ASCS Committee member. He was also an active member and deacon of Toone Baptist Church.
Services were 11 AM Saturday, May 7, at Shackelford's Bolivar Chapel with Tommy Smith officiating. Burial was at Cearley Cemetery near Toone with Steve and Tommy Evans, Ted Gatewood, Lorenzo Lockett, George Maxwell and Joe Neyman serving as casket bearers and the active and inactive deacons of Toone Baptist Church serving as honorary casket bearers.
In addition to his wife, whom he married February 16, 1941, survivors include one daughter, Vicki N. Berkau of Smithfield, NC; one son, Dan F. Nuckolls of Toone and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Earline Midyett and Vivian Vaughan; one brother, Albert Sydney Nuckolls and one grandson, John Glover Nuckolls.
