David Wayne Hicks was born on December 29, 1977, in Memphis, Tennessee the son of the late John Wayne and Cynthia Diane Morgan Hicks. On January 7, 1999 he was united in marriage to Frankie Pickens Scott, who survives.
David lived in Adamsville, Tennessee for twenty years prior to moving to the Bruton Branch Community, where he lived for the past sixteen years and was a member of the Bruton Branch Baptist Church. David worked in construction building bridges for E&R Construction and Tony Smith Construction Companies. He also worked for numerous fast food chains, as a cook. David never met a stranger and was liked by all who he met. He was a generous man, if you were hungry, he would feed you and if you needed a place to sleep, he would provide a place; he would give you the shirt off his back, never turning anyone away.
David departed this life on September 20, 2014 in Savannah, Tennessee, at the age of 36 years, 8 months and 22 days.
In addition to his wife, Frankie Pickens Scott of Savannah, Tennessee, he is survived by a stepson, Erick Dalton Pickens and two stepdaughters, Lekesah Darcell Pickens and Celena Kay Pickens, all of Savannah, Tennessee; two step granddaughters, Gaberilla Grace Powers and Layce Darcell Pickens; two brothers, John Shannon Hicks and Steven Matthew Hicks and one sister, Melissa Kay Hicks Moon; eight nieces, one nephew, one special nephew, Steven Matthew Hicks, Jr.; and a special friend and companion, Rebecca Tilley of Savannah, Tennessee.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Jennifer Dawn Hicks Bauer and grandparents, Neil and Ethel Hicks, Melinda Dye, Bill and Reba Morgan.
