Darlene Shields

Mrs. Darlene Shields, age 54 of Dyersburg, Tennessee, departed this life Wednesday, December 4, 2013.

Mrs. Shields was born March 14, 1959 in Holly Springs, Mississippi to Mary Francies Bain Walker of Moscow, who survives, and the late Julius Edward Bryant. She was united in marriage to John Malvin Shields, who preceded her in death June 5, 2011. She worked as a Certified Nurse's Assistant for 20 years in Collierville, TN, Las Cruces, NM, and Ripley, TN. Her family states that she was a great cook and loved them dearly. She was a member of the Church of God and attended New Union Baptist when she lived in Hardeman County.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by four daughters, Sandra Maness of Paducah, Kentucky, Jennifer Herron of Yorkville, Tennessee, Shaunda Hartman of Newbern, Tennessee, and Vanessa Sturdivant of Newbern, Tennessee; a son, Wesley Lucy of Jackson; two sisters, Phillis Page of Henning, Tennessee and Joy Ferguson of Grand Junction, Tennessee; two brothers, Edward Bryant of Somerville, Tennessee, and Charles Bryant of Ripley, Tennessee; fourteen grandchildren; an uncle, James Bryant of Cloverport; and her companion, Jerry Sanders of Dyersburg.

In addition to her father and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Ray Bryant.
