He was born and reared in Chester County, the son of the late H.E. (Hollie Edward) and Zula Naylor Plunk. He attended schools in Chester County. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII, serving aboard ship. He returned to Henderson and worked in construction work and later worked at Lucas Iron Works in Peoria, IL. He was married to Marie Frix and they made their home in Peoria before moving back to Chester County. He did carpenter work in and around Henderson.
He loved to trade in the horse and cattle business. He was a member of the "Over the hill Gang" who rode the horse trails at Chickasaw.
Gang members were: Junior Frank, Carroll Priddy, Harold Maness, Dr. D.C. King, Jerry Carroll, Odell Hatch, Junior Guinn, Jerry Cothren, James Frix, Danny Thomas, Anthony Bolton, Bare Bolton and Red Butler.
He is survived by a stepson: Herman Carroll Seeley of Henderson; four step grandchildren and five step great grandchildren; one brother, Rev. Jessie Plunk of Lexington; three sisters, Eva Plunk of Henderson, Mary Nell Hubanks of Bethel Springs and Hermie McCollum of Adamsville.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marie Frix Plunk in 1988; a stepdaughter, Betty Gore in 1985; three brothers, David Plunk, Claudie Plunk and Joe Neal Plunk; three sisters, Beulah Plunk Davis, Hettie Mae Plunk and Annie Mae Plunk.
